Since leaving Bolton ‘by mutual consent’ Dougie Freedman had been linked with the likes of Cardiff, but a move out of left field saw him appointed at Nottingham Forest manager on Sunday.

The sacking of Stuart Pearce, not a surprise at all, was confirmed on Sunday after they lost against at the weekend – the appointment of former Forest striker Freedman as his successor was announced shortly after, that move has to be viewed as something of a surprise?

The full details of Freedman’s appointment, and what his role is, are to be announced ‘in due course.’

Freedman has certainly landed on his feet here hasn’t he, it’ll be interesting to see what he does at the City Ground but I don’t think many, if any, would swap him for Neil Lennon would they!
