Bolton’s season continued on Tuesday night with the latest championship fixture played, with them virtually confirming another season in the second tier of English football.

A local derby with Blackpool was on offer on Tuesday with Bolton securing a 1-0 win at the Reebok Stadium.

Dougie Freedman was happy with the way his side played and feels that the win was one that he side ‘deserved’.

The Bolton boss said: ‘I’m very happy with that one I felt that the way we started the game very well and got a goal.

‘Blackpool then came into the game but Adam didn’t have too many saves to make.

‘We adapted our shape and made it a bit more difficult for them and in the end we had a couple of chances and we deserved that 1-0 win because of the way we approached the game in the final 25 minutes.’

A header from David Wheater early in the first half was enough to secure Bolton the win over their local rivals, which makes them just about safe but keeps Blackpool in the relegation battle.

Now 12-points clear of the bottom three Bolton should be safe, not that Freedman ever feared relegation.

He added: ‘I never felt we were in trouble and I also felt that had enough to win games of football.

‘We just need to play consistently at a level where we win games. In the last 11 games we’ve played very well but we just need to consistently pick up results.

‘I’ve said to the lads that they’ve got to keep on playing. There are lads in there who are playing for contracts, there are players who want to come to the club on loan and there are younger players who want to come through as well. There’s a lot to play for within the club.’

Mr Ecky sends his best to the Vital Bolton community, he’s currently not well, he’ll be back as soon as possible and in the meantime, he’s got a staff writer to fill in for him.

If anyone has something to share in the meantime (this gives a genuine Bolton point of view from a Bolton fan!) feel free to fire an email through.
