Dougie Freedman is ‘weighing up’ the option of sending Josh Vela out on loan.

Vela is someone that people think should be given a chance with the Bolton boss often speaking highly of him but so far his championship chances have been limited this season, in fact he hasn’t made a league appearance this season with his two appearances coming in cup competitions.

Reports have linked him with a loan to league one outfit Notts County and Freedman is now deciding if he is better off going out on loan or continuing his involvement in the development side and getting close to a first-team place.

Freedman told the Bolton News: ‘He’s playing very, very well.

‘It is a very fine line between sending him out to get games and keeping him here because he is extremely close to making that breakthrough.

‘If we came to the decision, with Josh, that going out on loan was the thing to do, then it would be in the short term only.’

If he’s that close to making inroads in the first-team perhaps this chance should be given to him?

Mr Ecky sends his best to the Vital Bolton community, he’s currently not well, he’ll be back as soon as possible and in the meantime, he’s got a staff writer to fill in for him.

If anyone has something to share in the meantime (this gives a genuine Bolton point of view from a Bolton fan!) feel free to fire an email through.

Please include your username so I can put that to it though.
