Bolton open their UEFA campaign with a game against Macedonian side FK Rabotnički, who are basically, the social club side of the Kometal company. It`s a bit like playing Horwich RMI. The match isn`t on terrestrial television, satellite, internet stream or dodgy pub channels as Rabotnički forgot to negotiate the TV rights. The Wanderers have taken some fans over there, well, one plane load to be precise, but seven of those won`t get to see the game as they`ve been arrested. Enjoy the salt mines lads.

Jlloyd Samuel will improve Bolton`s defence, as he isn`t playing due to a hamstring injury. Hopefully the problem is a long term one. About ten years would be good. Christian Wilhelmsson is also doubtful with a thigh strain, probably incurred whilst servicing the delectable Mrs Wilhelmsson.

It`s difficult to say who the key players for Rabotnički will be as no one outside of Skopje has heard of them, but it`s a fair bet that the name will end in ‘ski.` Madzovski, Pacovski, Ilievski, Jovanovski (x2), Lazarevski, Aleksovski, Velkovski, Stankovski, Golaboski – take your pick and don`t forget chairman Trifun Kostovski. Maybe that`s why there isn`t coverage. No commentator wants the gig.

It`s a no win situation for manager Sammy Lee. A victory will be taken for granted. A draw or a defeat will spark more pandemonium amongst a section of Bolton`s fans, who appear to take great delight in undermining his position and that of the club. No predictions from this site. Just the hope of a comfortable victory, and no injuries for the crunch match on Sunday with Spurs.
