Gerald Cid: Injury was Genuine

Gerald Cid hasn`t had the best of starts to his Bolton career. Five games, ten goals conceded and he`s been at fault for most of them. The most conspicuous error was in Saturday`s game against Everton when his attempted sliding tackle gifted Andy Johnson a clear run on goal. When the ball hit the back of the net, Cid was still trying to extricate himself from the East Stand Lower.

Bordeaux`s least successful export was substituted at half time, the official line being that he was injured. However, rumours persist that this version of events was merely a face-saving exercise on behalf of the player.

We can now exclusively reveal that Cid`s groin injury is genuine. It was inflicted by Sammy Lee in the dressing room at half-time.
