Not only is Eidur Gudjohnsen back with Bolton, having returned until the end of the season earlier in the campaign, he’s now back playing on the international stage again.

Asked to reverse his decision to retire from international football, which was rightly made you feel when he called time on his Iceland career after the 2014 World Cup play-off defeat to Croatia some 18-months or more ago, he marked his return with a goal in a Euro 2016 qualifying win again Kazakhstan!

His former international teammate, and of course former Bolton defender, Gretar Steinsson had labelled him ‘a different bread’ in quotes carried by Sky Sports.

‘It’s fantastic for him. He’s a player of a different breed. He was fantastic to train with, to play with and he’s got a wealth of experience.

‘It’s fantastic for fans in the Championship to be able to see him on the pitch and doing well.’

Steinsson, if you didn’t know – and in all honesty I didn’t until I read about it – is now the technical director at Fleetwood!

It was great to see Eidur come back to Bolton for ‘one last hurrah’ could the evergreen 36-year-old continue his footballing career into next season? Having come out of international retirement you tend to think he will see out the Euro 2016 qualification so seem set to carry on.

Will this be at the Macron Stadium though?
