Hear From Evatt and Dapo Ahead of Bolton v Wigan

|

It’s them lot tomorrow.

Bolton host Wigan in front of another big crowd at the UniBol – and the away side have sold out their allocation. Like a mum asking her kids to please, for God’s sake, just behave, Sharon Brittan has asked for fans to support the team positively (to be fair, she’s right, don’t be an idiot). On the pitch, Bolton will once again have the chance to get into the top six, and also get within a point of tomorrow’s opponents.

Team news

We’re definitely without Gethin Jones, who was suspended anyway after picking up enough yellow cards, but has since also picked up an injury. There have been one or two other injuries in training midweek which haven’t been disclosed, though Dapo Afolayan’s press appearence would suggest he’s not one of them. Naming a possible XI is tricky, but let’s try it anyway…

Possible XI: Dixon; Brockbank, Almeida Santos, Johnston, John; Williams, Lee; Isgrove, Sarcevic, Afolayan; Bakayoko

Last time out

Bolton’s last home game against Wigan came in December 2018, Will Buckley gave us an early lead, but Will Grigg’s equaliser from the penalty spot ensured we had to settle for a draw in a Championship encounter.

The opposition

Wigan are in decent form having won four of their last five matches, and sit third in the league, four points ahead of us. They signed quite heavily over the summer, including James McClean, and that whole desperately trying to convince everyone we wanted him thing. Midfielder Tom Naylor knows League One well, while up front, Charlie Wyke took a few games to get going, but has now scored in three of their last four matches.

Prediction

Got a feeling they might beat us. Desperately hope we don’t lose though, obviously. 1-2
