Despite a fourth serious knee injury in the past three-years, having broken down after just 23-minutes of his latest comeback. Stuart Holden says ‘I’ll be back’ and is refusing to think that his career is over.

A defiant Holden knows the initial recovery phase is ‘pretty slow’ but once that is out of the way and he comes off the crutches the time start ‘flying by’ in his recovery period.

Speaking to US podcast Soccer Morning Holden is quoted as saying: ‘I’m just getting on the mend.

‘The first part’s pretty slow, I’m on crutches for another week – once I’m off those it starts flying by.

‘I’m just ready to get back on the horse. It was obviously a setback, disappointing for me personally and a lot of emotions were flying around, but I’m well and truly feeling like I’m ready to do this thing again.’

The American, as anyone would, wonders why he keeps getting setback by serious injuries but isn’t giving up his battle and will continue to fight to get back and continue to remain positive in his outlook.

At 28 the winger still has time on his career but you wonder just how much these injuries have taken from him? He still feels he has plenty to offer the game and that fuels his desire to continue.

He added: ‘I won’t give up because I know I have a lot left to give the game. I know my work-ethic, my mentality – that will all get me there again.

‘I’m fully confident in my medical team where I’ll be playing again with no problems.’

You have to admire his confidence and desire, for that alone he deserves to make a full recovery without any further complications but only time will tell if that will be the case….

Mr Ecky sends his best to the Vital Bolton community, he’s currently not well, he’ll be back as soon as possible and in the meantime, he’s got a staff writer to fill in for him.

If anyone has something to share in the meantime (this gives a genuine Bolton point of view from a Bolton fan!) feel free to fire an email through.

Please include your username so I can put that to it though.
