A small reflection on the weekend’s wreckage

It hasn’t got any better for me. Has it for you?

A Bolton Wanderers thrashing, in my experience, is normally like a hangover after a night on the town. You hit the tiles full of hope and expectation, blow an obscene amount of money ‘enjoying yourself’, throw-up, fall asleep and regret- what you can remember- everything you did, only for time to heal you by the Monday, to repeat your actions the following weekend. All is forgiven and forgotten if the following night-out is a ‘winner’.

This mauling at the feet of Reading is different. I feel no better today. In fact, I feel worse.

Something broke in Berkshire on Saturday. This wasn’t just a hammering in a league game of football. This was Toto the dog opening the curtain to reveal how bad things are at Bolton Wanderers football club. All the guff and blah that Freedman has been delivering in his Coyle-esque, post-match reports, were all words to skirt around the facts: the Bolton team is a complete car-crash and things aren’t going to improve any time soon.

I’m going to put the transfer story regarding Danny Graham later this afternoon- even though I don’t know why we’re going after him. I just wanted to reflect on the weekend and how you guys were feeling.

Please keep the comments coming. You’re keeping me sane…
