Is Dyer Signing Really Necessary?

|

Bolton added to their ranks yesterday by employing the services of free agent Lloyd Dyer. Dyer, who is hugely experienced in the Championship with clubs such as Leicester City, Watford and Burton Albion, is 36 and turned down the chance to stay with Burton after their relegation last season, but it has been only now that he has got himself a club in the second tier.

Whether we really needed him is another question. Yes, Sammy Ameobi is going to be out for a few weeks with the injury he picked up against QPR, but players do go missing through injury or suspension over the course of the season, surely Yanic Wildschut, Craig Noone and Will Buckley, with the possibility of Clayton Donaldson filling in on right-hand side should be more than enough?

Phil Parkinson has also mentioned the possibility of using him as a left wing-back, while he can play there, I’d rather us not play that system in the first place.

Now I’ve said all that, watch him become undroppable. Dyer has also never lost a league game against us, so by that logic, we can’t lose to a Lloyd Dyer side if he’s playing for us. Needless to say, we hope he does well.
