It’s All Very Quiet at Bolton

|

As the summer is in full swing now, there seems to be very little noise coming out of the club when it comes to, just about anything really.

There doesn’t necessarily need to be. Often the summer window starts slowly before deals start a domino effect and allow others to get done. It’s a touch surprising however that our retained list has yet to be released. Holidays will have played a part, and we have had the drip feed of players released and youngsters who have announced they are moving on. But there’s still confirmation whether the likes of Darren Pratley, Aaron Wilbraham, and Karl Henry will be staying.

Ken Anderson’s columns have even slowed down, which hopefully would point at him being busy with investment talks. While it seems to be the case more money will be available in terms of a wage bill this summer, whatever happens, all the transfer links still point to the possibility that a transfer fee will still not be paid.

There is still plenty of time though, regardless of the window shutting early. Last summer, Mark Little was the first ‘new’ signing, and his was announced in mid-June. So while we’d hopefully know this week who is moving on and what we need to do (and it seems a lot), it’s probably a couple of weeks before we should start to worry about a lack of activity.
