John Signs Permanently To Tie Down Last Season’s Best Team

|

Bolton have made their fourth signing of the summer, and it’s another loan star from last season that has been tied down permanently.

Declan John has been tied down a long-term deal having being on loan from Swansea for the second half of last season. His contract runs until 2024.

The Welsh left-back came to the club in January and quickly established himself as the first choice left-back, massively improving an area where we had struggled in the first half of the campaign. He also managed to score twice en route to us getting promoted. Being one of the players most fans wanted signed up as soon as possible, this is good news. Other options were reportedly looked at just in case he went elsewhere, but it looks like we’ve got our number one target in that position.

“I thoroughly enjoyed my time with the club during what was a special season. Feeling appreciated and wanted by Bolton Wanderers brings me huge joy and I am delighted to sign this deal.  This club is going on a journey and I wanted to be part of it. I cannot wait to get going for next season,” said the Welshman.

Ian Evatt added: “Declan was a huge success for us last season after coming in on loan from Swansea in January. He played a big part in us producing an incredible run which culminated in us getting promotion. He’s a very, very talented footballer as we have all seen and I’m really happy that he has committed his future to us. He’s the sort of player this club should be signing and we are hopeful that he can be a huge part in getting Bolton Wanderers back to where we belong.”

This does mean we’ve also tied down the entirety of the first choice eleven from the end of last season down for the following campaign, which is important after so many years of repeatedly rebuilding the squad season after season.
