Jutkiewicz: Will He Stay Or Will He Go?

That’s one of the questions that Bolton will want answering this summer but a lot depends on what Middlesbrough’s plans are with him and what fee they would be looking for.

Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka says that he had been impressed with his loan spell at the Reebok Stadium and would now look to ‘hold talks’ with him to see what happens next in his career.

Jutkiewicz himself had previously expressed a desire to sign for the club on a permanent basis with former Middlesbrough man, and of course Bolton defeat, David Wheater saying that he had told him he wants to stay and hopes a deal can be arranged.

Wheater told the Bolton News: ‘He’s told me he wants to stay but when he’s scored all the goals he has, maybe Middlesbrough will want to put him in.

‘It’d be good to have someone to swap Boro stories with.’

I think Bolton would want him for something more than just a ‘story swapper’ but I get what he is saying.

7 goals in 20 appearances represents a good spell with the club but the 24-year-old would have probably attracted attention from other clubs too during this spell.

With a reported £2m transfer fee wanted by Middlesbrough for him that would rule out a permanent signing so the best bet would appear to be another loan, but this time a season-long one but that would require Middlesbrough to be up for that too!

It isn’t going to matter how much he wants the Bolton move, if Middlesbrough are prepared to sell they will want to sell and not loan him out and that is where others have the upper hand….

I would, for what it’s worth, be surprised at this stage if he was a the Macron Stadium next season.

Mr Ecky sends his best to the Vital Bolton community, he’s currently not well, he’ll be back as soon as possible and in the meantime, he’s got a staff writer to fill in for him.

If anyone has something to share in the meantime (this gives a genuine Bolton point of view from a Bolton fan!) feel free to fire an email through.

Please include your username so I can put that to it though.
