Not The Best Performance But Bolton Still Win

Bolton had to dig deep but managed to keep their unbeaten run going with a 2-1 win at home to Charlton.

We weren’t at the races, particularly in the first half. Our only chance resulted in the goal which put us ahead. It came from nothing really, but Dion Charles, who would chase his own kid down if there was a second ball up for grabs, managed to mug Akin Famewo and broke away to score his fourth for the club.

That aside though, we simply didn’t get going in our attacking play. The second was a bit better, with Dapo Afolayan going close, but Charlton had chances too, with James Trafford making a superb save, and when Chuks Aneke came off the bench to head in the cross from fellow substitute and January signing Scott Fraser, it probably needs to be said that Charlton deserved that equaliser.

We would manage to find a way to win though. Aaron Morley’s deliveries had been good on the whole. and finally it would lead to us scoring a goal from a set-piece, when his free kick picked out Will Aimson, who scored the winner and his first goal for us in the process. It wasn’t the best performance, but at least we managed to grind a win out against a team who were on an unbeaten run of their own.
