October has been better than September for Bolton, even if it hasn’t still been good enough.
We’ve at least got a couple of wins on the board now, but lost just as many, with those poor results against Oldham and Leyton Orient. Here are some of the better performing players in October…
Ricardo Almeida Santos
Frankly a liability in the opening weeks of the season, but has settled in now. Most of that has been down to cementing the central spot in the back three, and was able to keep Paul Mullin quiet at Cambridge, as well been involved in clean sheets against Grimsby and Bradford.
Antoni Sarcevic
A couple of goals for the captain, scoring equalisers at Cambridge and Barrow. He was also excellent against Bradford in parts although faded as we held on in the latter stages.
Ryan Delaney
Delaney was out of favour in September but played his first league game under Evatt at Harrogate and has been part of the back three ever since. For all the noise about playing out of the back, it’s been handy to have someone who’ll do the ugly stuff. Like everyone not perfect by any means but a few 7/10 performances and the two clean sheets.
Peter Kioso
Has done well so far, at his best, a good attacking threat as anyone despite being at right wing back.
