On the Brink Now

Bolton are really on the brink of the drop now after Reading were the latest to pick up all three points against us.

The game swung on an early red card for Rob Holding, who gave away a penalty after bringing down Matej Vydra. Vydra’s poor penalty however was saved by the returning Ben Amos.

Amos would have a lot to do as Reading had 75% of possession and Bolton’s players were awful at keeping the ball when they did get it.

Zach Clough had our only real half-chance, shooting with the outside of his boot but it was easy for the welcomed former Trotter Ali Al-Habsi.

David Wheater cleared a Jonathan Obita strike off the line, while Amos made a great double save.

Substitute Ola John did find a way past the rearguard though, with a superb 30 yard effort in the 90th minute.

The result means we could now be relegated by the end of next weekend. Yippee.
