In 37 days Bolton take on Wycombe in their first game of the season. Few teams ever at this stage of the summer look so ill-prepared.
We have a threadbare squad, no pre-season fixture list has been revealed, fans don’t know what the story is with how to go about sorting a season ticket, while Phil Parkinson will welcome back those players we do have nearly a week later than was originally planned. And never mind getting in new reinforcements for the upcoming campaign, as well as the fact we could still lose one or two of the players still on our books.
There may well be good reasons why this takeover hasn’t happened yet, and it does need to be done properly – I don’t see any reason why it would fall apart or anything of the such, but surely everyone involved needs to be aware that this needs to be done as quick as possible. A slow start to the season would really see us cut adrift, as if we aren’t going to be up against it from the start already.
