Philadelphia want our Zat Knight… I think

I’ve never hidden my, what’s the expression…? Fear towards, Zat Knight the footballer. I’m sure, Zat Knight the man, is a gentle giant who holds the door open for pregnant women, or gives up his seat on the bus for octogenarians.

But the defensive qualities of Mr Knight- although efficient and effective for 90% of the match- results in a goal-conceded-blunder on too many occasions.

Now, it would seem, another team want that on their consciences.

Just weeks before the start of the MLS season, Philadelphia Union have emerged as potential suiters for the big centre-back.

Knight’s contract at the Reebok Stadium comes to an end in June and the 33-year-old looks set to leave the Wanderers.

Should Philadelphia step up their pursuit of the former England international, it is possible that he could leave before the summer for a nominal fee.

With Bolton’s lack of defensive cover, is it actually conceivable, letting Knight leave now would prove folly? Or, is letting Knight leave, regardless of context, always the right move?

I’m siding with the latter.
