After three wins from three, we host Fleetwood for the first time tomorrow.
It could be an awkward game, and Fleetwood have started strongly, unbeaten with a win and two draws. They only just stayed up last season, and Steven Pressley left just a couple of weeks before the season started, but new boss Uwe Rösler has started well.
It’s also a return for Gretar Steinsson. The former Wanderers right back is now Director of Football at Highbury, and has helped solidify the Cod Army’s place in League One.
‘We’re very pleased. Winning tomorrow is a great incentive for us. It’ll be tough but we are looking for more of the same. Fleetwood are a good team. They’ve invested wisely in recent years and I expect them to challenge near the top this year.’
Phil Parkinson
‘Bolton will be physical and strong from set pieces, and we have to deal with that.’
Uwe Rösler not calling us the ‘club down the road’ this time.
Jamie Proctor has a hamstring problem and it may be better if he sits out tomorrow.
Max Clayton is probably still injured, while we know Darren Pratley is.
Despite the Wigan transfer talk, Vela has started the season well. In fact, all the central midfield has contributed and stepped up, which has helped with the good start.
Eggert Jonsson has a knock. Apart from that, a good clean bill of health.
The 20 year old signed from non-league Ilkeston a couple of years ago. He has two goals already this season and signed a three year xontract this week.
This is our first ever meeting with Fleetwood.
We could win our first four league games of the season. This has not happened since 1934. We won our first seven that year.
We are the only team in the EFL with three wins from three.
Bolton 2-1 Fleetwood
Charlton away next weekend, then Everton’s kids at home in the Trophy on Tuesday
