Will 2017 be a year that goes down in the proud history of Bolton Wanderers?
Our first game of the year takes us to Coventry, just 48 hours after a hard fought win over Scunthorpe. The Sky Blues are struggling at the other end of the table but have since appointed a new manager after our narrow win over them at the Macron in November, and signed three players today as the transfer window opened
‘It was just banter.’
Coventry’s most famous fan, Richard Keys
Nathan Clarke, Stuart Beavon and Callum Reilly all signed today and could be available. Ex-Wanderer Marvin Sordell has left the club to join Burton Albion.
One of Coventry’s bright spots this season, he has come through the academy and scored some great goals
Sammy Ameobi has gone back to Newcastle, it is believed. Whether it’s ‘see you later’ or ‘goodbye’ we don’t know, but it means yesterday’s hero James Henry will almost start
There are no new injury worries, except for Lawrie Wilson who limped out of the Scunthorpe game. If he is unavailable, Derik or Lewis Buxton could come in.
With two days between games, which is ridiculous, expect one or two changes regardless.
He should start, and finally showed what he can do on Saturday scoring his first Wanderers goal. He’s a good player, I’m sure he’ll kick on given the chance
This is our first visit to the Ricoh Arena
Bolton have yet to draw an away game since August against Charlton, and have won three of the last five
Other stats may follow later
1-1. The lack of recovery time could mix things up a bit, and Coventry did give us a game at the Macron during the second half.
Palace at home in the Cup on Saturday, then we host Swindon a week later
