The top end of season accolade at Bolton has been won by Tom Ream.

Having claimed the Bolton Wanderers Supporters Association Player of the Year earlier in the week the American international has now been named the official Bolton Player of the Year.

With 39% of the online votes the defender won this with loanee Middlesbrough striker Lukas Jutkiewicz runner-up with 19% with another loanee Neil Danns, who will make his loan from Leicester City permanently this summer, came third with 13%.

Ream said this to the official website upon winning this: ‘It’s a really cool feeling to be recognised again by the club’s supporters. As I said before, it’s nice and humbling knowing that people think you’ve done a good job, but at the end of the day it`s about the squad.

‘Personally, the past two years have definitely been a real eye opener. When I was involved last season I was a little unnerved purely by how different the style was to the other leagues I’ve played in.

‘There are so many demands in this league and to begin with I probably wasn’t prepared for that, but it definitely gave me motivation coming into this season.

‘I feel settled off the field, and that’s also a big factor whether people believe it or not. I feel happy and am working in a structure and programme that really helps us, as players.’

Ream is the worthy winner of the Player of the Year award isn’t he?

Mr Ecky sends his best to the Vital Bolton community, he’s currently not well, he’ll be back as soon as possible and in the meantime, he’s got a staff writer to fill in for him.

If anyone has something to share in the meantime (this gives a genuine Bolton point of view from a Bolton fan!) feel free to fire an email through.

Please include your username so I can put that to it though.
