Reasons To Like Bolton’s Latest Signing

|

Bolton have completed the loan signing of Dutch forward Yanic Wildschut. The big Amsterdammer arrives from Norwich City on a year-long deal, becoming the fifth new player through the door this summer.

It’s a fairly good signing. Presumably, he will be used on the wing, where he will be able to bring some real pace. He can also play through the middle, but his goalscoring record in the Championship isn’t particularly good. Nevertheless, he has enough ability that 18 months ago, Norwich paid £7 million for him, and while things haven’t really worked out at Carrow Road, he has played in this league for the Canaries, Middlesbrough, Cardiff, and Wigan, so knowing the Championship won’t be a problem.

There’s already a reason to like him before he even gets the chance to kick a ball. When leaving Wigan he made a comment about no longer playing in front of empty seats. He said he was misquoted, but it’s still funny.

Wildschut was also modeling the new away kit, which looks good, but we’ve been relegated on the last couple of occasions we’ve had a black away kit. That’s not so good.
