Rumour: Bolton Interest in ‘Turkish Messi’

|

Bolton Wanderers have largely been looking at loans and frees again if the early summer transfer rumours are true, but one such player we’ve been linked with would actually be quite exciting.

We’re one of three Championship clubs linked with Erhun Oztumer, the Walsall midfielder that has been dubbed the ‘Turkish Messi’ (ignoring the fact he’s actually from south-east London, and ), and with his contract up this summer, he is looking to make a step up, such has been the quality of his displays.  As well as us, Preston, Blackburn and Bradford have been linked with the midfielder, who scored one of the best goals I’ve ever witnessed at the Macron when he scored a half-volley from long range against us last February. With 30 goals in 86 games for the Saddlers, he knows where the goal is too.

It would be a great signing, Oztumer would suit playing behind a lone striker, and technically would be a better option than Josh Vela, who could potentially drop deeper into midfield. If the club isn’t actually looking at Oztumer as a potential transfer target, maybe they should quickly change that.

There’s only one downside, given our usual style of play. Oztumer is just 5ft 3in. Hope he can grow a foot.
