Bolton were linked with a couple of players, and some exits, but it was basically a quiet day at the Reebok on deadline day.

The ’emergency loan’ window closed at 5pm on Thursday with this closing with Dougie Freedman securing the services of Andy Robinson on loan from Southampton.

Speaking about the signing Freedman said: ‘We’ve been looking at him for a while now. He’s a good young player who has been brought up in a fantastic system.

‘I’ve watched him play in the reserves for Southampton for some time now and we know all about him. He’s a different type to some of the midfielders we’ve currently got.’

21-year-old midfielder Robinson should offer Bolton another options with him expected to come straight into the squad for the weekend meeting with Wigan Athletic, maybe into the starting XI instantly?

Chris Eagles’ reported exit didn’t happen though, nor did Lee Peltier’s arrival from Leeds United with the defender eventually completing a move to Nottingham Forest that seemed dead in the water earlier in the week.

Mr Ecky sends his best to the Vital Bolton community, he’s currently not well, he’ll be back as soon as possible and in the meantime, he’s got a staff writer to fill in for him.

If anyone has something to share in the meantime (this gives a genuine Bolton point of view from a Bolton fan!) feel free to fire an email through.

Please include your username so I can put that to it though.
