Santos A Given, But Who Else Are Our November Players Of The Month?

|

It has been a good month for Bolton Wanderers.

Initial disappointment with a home draw against Mansfield and an FA Cup exit at the first round stage has largely been forgotten with a winning streak that saw us beat Salford, Newcastle’s under-21s, Stevenage, Scunthorpe and Southend. We’ve picked out four of the top performers this month…

Ricardo Almeida Santos

An overwhelming choice for the club’s player of the month award, bar probably Mansfield, he’s been brilliant in every game he’s played this month. He has the physical presence, and he’s excellent on the ball. Quite the combination.

Eoin Doyle

Doyle has come back from injury in the best possible manner, returning somewhat surprisingly against Salford, he has since trebled his league goal tally for the season, scoring four in four appearances to bring his League Two tally for the season up to six in 12 games.

Matt Gilks

A change had to be made in goal, and Ian Evatt’s dropping, if not necessarily his public criticism of Billy Crellin, has been vindicated. He has made vital saves in every game he has played, and his communication skills are doubtlessly keeping the backline calm too.

Alex Baptiste

Like Doyle, another player to have finally hit consistency in the last few weeks. Was the man of the match last weekend against Southend, with a couple of assists, and is seeming to get how to play the outside centre-back role in Evatt’s system.
