Assuming he plays on Saturday, Gary Speed will be the first player to hit 500 Premiership appearances.

As previously documented on this site, the man is a top-notch professional. He’s looked after himself while others have wasted their talents (are you reading this Gazza???)He’s made the most of his abilities and has had a fantastic career.

However, knowing him to be the true pro he is, unless we get three points against West Ham, he’ll be in no mood for celebrating come Saturday night. His appetite for the game is undiminished. It was he to had a go at Kev Nolan at half time of the Arsenal game because he thought that the Bolton captain had spent too much time arguing with the referee and hadn’t picked up Gilberto. You just know that he gives 100% whether it’s on the training field on on the pitch in a game.

All the best Gary. Let’s hope we win so you can give us a smile after the game.
