  • I have been thinking about the recent results, the season as a whole, DF, the players, the loanees and the opposing viewpoints of many Bolton fans. I to be honest don’t know what to make of everything. We are all undoubtedly feeling much better than a month ago. However it is all to late for this season and there was a worrying lack of continuity from the run in last year. I do accept that removing certain high earners will be good but only if that money is used to replace them and that for me is another worry. I think more likely it will go to pay off some debt. The loanees of whom I amongst others was very sceptical about have thus far proved a success. However I doubt the two forwards will behere next season. Mason we can’t afford and I fear that the same will be the case with “the juke”. Hus performances are increasing his value every game. I spoke briefly to Phil Gartside the other day( who spent the whole time looking over his shoulder for Aussie Mike) he reckons that although he would be a good signing Boro. won’t play ball. Let’s hope Beckford can return and continue to play well. I would like to see him with Jutkiewich this Saturday not least as Mason could be back in the valleys in a couple of weeks. Anyway let’s hope for the same kind of set up we had in the three victories for the Brighton game and the same kind of tempo.

  • That is the difficulty for DF, the two occasions when he has seemed to get personnel right and the balance and tactics spot on have come too late, ideally he would be able to get his business done and then just utilise the loan market in case of injuries for a bit more depth but he is having to put them in because we have players not ready or under performing. The financial situation doesnt help and to be fair to Dougie he is trying to move people on and bring in his own characters but it is easier said than done, we are in a transitional period and we need to be patient…I would love us to sign Juke, he wants to come but that would prob depend on what business Boro do, Mason will stay at Cardiff if they go down, if they stay up we could see a season loan but then Eaves, Clough, Wilkinson are a year older, Sordell and Davies back with us so depending on how ready they are could dictate how hard we go in for Mason and Juke.

  • I don’t see any of our current loaned out players returning and being first team next year. Davies, who I like just isn’t doing the business Eaves likewise and Sordell looks like a player who’s best days are behind him even at such a young age. Maybe he should go back to Watford and start over? Clough looks a handful when I have seen him play but too lightweight at the moment( as do nearly all the reserves) Wilkinson I have not seen so cant comment.
