Fans of Bolton Wanderers reached the end of a crucial day still with no idea what was actually going as the ownership saga didn’t reach the conclusion it was meant to reach today.

News did emerge last night that Dean Holdsworth’s Sports Shield had seemed to emerge as the front runner to save the club. With a second High Court appearance looming on Monday, today was meant to be the day where an announcement on a takeover was made, or whether the codes for the nukes (or at least the administration papers) would be used, but at press time, there still seems to be nothing.

Attention might briefly turn to matters on the pitch on Saturday, as the Trotters hope to keep their slim survival hopes alive when they host QPR. Bolton are currently seven points adrift. Or it could be nineteen, as on what was billed of a vital day there has still been no announcement.

Then attention will go back to the courts on Monday, when fans will hopefully have some concrete news. Or some news. Or something.
