Hi fellow fans,

Over the coming season the Football Supporters’ Federation plans to reach out to our favourite bloggers on a more regular basis. Sometimes that might be sharing a possible story, sometimes it might be offering a quote or two, and sometimes it might even take the form of me asking a teeny, favour. On this occasion it’s the latter…

We’ve got an ongoing Away Fans Feedback (here) project which aims to assemble the thoughts and experiences of Premier League and Championship away fans over the course of an entire season (if it’s a success we’d love to roll it out as far down the leagues as possible). The FSF can then make legitimate, evidence-based recommendations to the authorities which are based on a season’s worth of evidence. We obviously hope these recommendations improve the fans’ experience.

Why away fans? Because in our eyes they’re the core essence of the football fan. They are the most committed, make the largest financial (and domestic) sacrifices, and are the catalyst to generating a truly great atmosphere. In order for the survey to work it needs fans to provide information consistently throughout the season. This will give us the stats, over a suitable timeframe, to draw evidence-based conclusions that the authorities will (hopefully) listen to.
