The first of three bits of transfer gossip

A few transfer titbits for Bolton fans today; all speculation, mostly welcomed, I think, and a couple familiar, in and out of the Reebok.

I’m going to split the morsels into three little articles to give you contributors the appropriate section to aim your comment at.

First one…

Dougie Freedman is going back to Cardiff to try and lure Kevin McNaughton and Joe Mason back to Bolton, but only after the two side unlock their horns in the FA cup.

Our manager has admitted drawing the Bluebirds in the cup has not helped their quest for the welsh club’s pair, but if the Whites dispose of Cardiff to advance, their arrivals become more likely.

Kevin would be welcomed back with open arms, but unfortunately I can’t give a fully rounded opinion on young Joe.
I only watched Mason play once and from your comments which followed his, he isn’t suited for the ‘one up top’ malarkey. But would he fit nicely into a Beckford/Mason, Ngog/Mason combo? If so, is the recruitment of the striker Dougie changing his battle-plan? Or will he persist with playing Joe Mason up on his own?

Either way, the Welsh club have said, call at the end of the month.

Tick tock…
