It seems that yesterday`s article on the game against Tranmere Rovers has upset some of their fans.

Just for the record, Tranmere is a lovely football club. It has skilful, talented players who never foul, cheat or get yellow carded. The stadium is an architectural gem and the fans are kind, immaculately dressed and knowledgeable. May they have every success in avoiding relegation from League One next season.

Birkenhead itself, is a place of outstanding natural beauty. The streets are swept daily and there isn`t a bit of graffiti or litter. The inhabitants, each and every one of them, are charming, intelligent, educated and highly articulate. Even the tramps.

This completes Vital Bolton`s entry into the World Sarcasm Championships. Wish us luck in the final.

On the football front, Bolton has arranged a friendly with local Unibond side Radcliffe Borough on 7th July, kick off 3pm. So at least we`ll be playing one proper football club pre-season.
