Manager Neil Lennon has said he was delighted with Bolton’s ugly victory over Millwall at the weekend, and he was even more delighted to have kept the clean sheet given our propensity for conceding late goals in matches.

Watch Lennon & Le Fondre Respond To Millwall Win

An Adam Le Fondre brace gave us the relatively comfortable victory against the relegation strugglers, and Lennon was obviously pleased for a variety of reasons when he spoke to the Official Site.

‘It`s a very welcome victory. We probably haven`t played as well as we have in recent games, but we got the job done in the end. To win and keep a clean sheet is fantastic, and it`s very important for where we are right now. It was a bit of an ugly win, if you want to call it that.’

With on loan Le Fondre taking the plaudits for his double first half strike, Lennon went on to say that his goal scoring record speaks for itself really, so clearly he was delighted to be able to do a deal with Cardiff in January to bring him in.

‘Adam`s goal record speaks for itself. We were very pleased when we were able to bring him here in January, and already he`s our joint second top scorer. His two goals today were fabulous. Once we got the opener I thought we sat in a little bit and were tentative in our play. We didn`t really pass the ball anywhere near well enough and struggled to get Eidur in the game. We just dropped off far too deep at times, but we`re saying this having won the game. We shouldn`t be too critical because the players are giving us everything right now.’

Moving forward Lennon says that he’s been relatively happy with our home form – one league loss since his arrival – but the focus now is on improving our away showings and results between now and the end of the season to give us a better consistency as we head into the next campaign.

He also had praise for Tom Walker following his performance, saying he was unlucky to not have grabbed himself a goal from the free kick, and Ben Amos again came in for praise following another good performance from him between the sticks.
