It’s almost certainly bad timing handing out a Player of the Month award the day after a 6-0 defeat but we’re going to announce December’s winner anyway, otherwise we’ll end up forgetting about it all.

Who won it? Mark Beevers was the recipient of the final one of these awards for 2018 – his goal against Norwich and decent performances in the two home games over Christmas getting him 31% of the vote.

It was a tie for second-place, with Sammy Ameobi and regular nominee Joe Williams (I think he’s quite good, okay?) each bagging a quarter of all the votes cast on our Twitter poll, while the other nominee we put forward, Gary O’Neil, took the remaining 19% of the vote.

As ever, we don’t have a trophy to send the winning player, but if Mark Beevers would like to claim a pint from me, he’s welcome to do so on the 45th Smarch.
