He Sky+ the Corrie omnibus. Just don’t tell Mrs Seed…

Q: When did you become a Bolton fan and why?

I was quite late in becoming a Wanderers fan. None of my family were into football, so it was just fate that one Saturday afternoon a mate suggested we go to a match. It was only about £4 to get in and it was during our one season in the old fourth division. I can’t remember who we played, or whether we won, but I started going to the odd game. It was after a trip to Wembley to see us lose to Trashmere that I started going regularly. Then I got a season ticket in ’94, and the rest is history!

Q: The season just gone, good bad or ugly? What did you think of it?

It was soul destroying up until January, then a sense of optimism started to creep in. Before then it felt like you were expecting the worse from every game, and it was just miserable.

Q. Gary Megson. Was he so bad?

Strangely enough, I wrote an article last season praising Megson’s tactics during a game. I was trying to be optimistic… It didn’t last long. As has often been said on here, he did the job of keeping us up after Sammy Lee, but it should have been ‘Thanks and Goodbye’ at the end of that season. On the upside, he signed some bloody good players, he just couldn’t get them to play.

Q. Owen Coyle. Is he some sort of messiah?

A dark ginger cloud lifted the day OC got the job and I always enjoyed watching him as a player. Maybe just maybe he can be our best manager since… Well, if he gets us some silverware, that’ll do for me.

Q: Best and worst moment of last season?

Beating West Ham twice. I love it when we beat them, it makes me laugh out loud, and thankfully we seem to do it with alarming regularity.
The worst, Sam Ricketts own goal against Slackburn, an absolutely godawful cock-up of the highest order. Oh, and the Hull game…

Q: Gary Cahill. Is he off? If so, what price (realistically) should Bolton hold out for? And where should he go and why?

Hope not, he’s our best player by a country mile. But if needs must I’ll take £20 million from Arsenal, Chelsea or the Dirty Reds. Any other club and he’s selling himself short.

Q: What signings (type of player or specific name/s if you wish) would you like to see Bolton buy this summer? Yes, I will allow you to name Petrov.

Easy, a fast striker who can score goals, a pair of full backs and a left winger. Plus Klasnic.

Q: Where do you stand on Kevin Davies? Has he got anything left to give?

I’ve not been the biggest fan of Davies this season. His first touch is poor, and his heading’s not as good as it should be. He’s been a great servant to the club and took over the captaincy well, but I would prefer to see him as a sub next year, so if plan A isn’t working (assuming we have a plan A) we can bring him on and just hoof balls up to the edge of the box and hope, just like the old days!

Q: Your opinion of Fat Phil and the board?

I don’t mind Mr Gartside, simply for the fact that he single handedly brought Allardyce to the club, and in turn got us where we are today. OK, he’s made some bad decisions, don’t we all at times, but the club seems to be on a relatively even keel financially, especially compared to some of our Premier League rivals.

Q: Favourite current player and favourite all time player/s. (This will be used for a future article)

He seems to have the marmite factor but I really like Muamba. Easily our most improved player last year, he looks not far off being very, very good, and still only young.
All time? There can be only one… Super John McGinlay! Not the best player we’ve ever had, but, well, he just had that extra ‘something’ that made him stand out.

Q: Do you expect progress next season? If so, where do you expect us to be? If not, where do you expect us to be?

What I would like to see next season is more people in the stadium. Attendances have been withering for the past few seasons, as has the atmosphere. I’ll go for an optimistic 10th, and a decent cup run too.

Away from Bolton, and seeing as how it’s now on, where are England going to end up in the World Cup.

Oh… Pre-tournament I was happy to say England could reach the semis, but two games in and it’s all looking a bit grim! We’ll probably scrape through the group but I think the last eight would be as good as it got. Not holding my breath though…

Q: Right, lets lower the tone… which celebrity would you most like to bang and which (male I would think) celeb would you most like to thump!?!

Ermmm, bearing in mind my wife will probably read this, I’ll decline to answer that (Kym Marsh is nice though) and as for thumping someone… Jeremy Clarkson for being an annoying, bigoted, smug tw@t!
