The penultimate Bolton pre-season friendly was played at Port Vale on Wednesday night, and this ended with a win.

A goal in either half was enough for Wanderers to gain a 2-0 win at Vale Park.

With Jay Spearing named on the bench it was Matt Mills that captained the side with it his header that opened the scoring early on as he headed home a corner, a one-nil lead was taken into the break.

He had only been on the pitch for five-minutes, having come on as a sub, when Jermaine Beckford had the impact that would have been hoped for as he added the second to seal the win.

Results are always a bonus in pre-season but aren’t the priority with Dougie Freedman taking the opportunity to try different things and more importantly give a good number the full 90-minutes on the night.

Bolton: Lonergan, Ream (McNaughton 59), Moxey (Threlkeld 73), Mills, Dervite, Medo, Feeney, Lee (Danns 72), M Davies (Hughes 82), C Davies (Beckford 72), Wilkinson (Hall 59)
Unused substitutes: Fitzsimons, Spearing, Pratley, Clough, Sellers, Wheater

Mr Ecky sends his best to the Vital Bolton community, he’s currently not well, he’ll be back as soon as possible and in the meantime, he’s got a staff writer to fill in for him.

If anyone has something to share in the meantime (this gives a genuine Bolton point of view from a Bolton fan!) feel free to fire an email through.

Please include your username so I can put that to it though.
