Watch: Loaned-out Bolton Keeper Makes Superb Save

|

You may have watched this evening’s League One playoff tie and have noticed that Ben Amos, a player we still own, was in goal for Charlton Athletic. It was a disappointing night for the South-East London club, as they lost 1-0 on the day at Shrewsbury and 2-0 on aggregate. However, the Shrews, who brought on Joe Riley late on, could have had a second of the day, but Amos was having nothing of it.

As Shrewsbury broke forward, Jon Nolan squared the ball across to a team-mate and surely they would do the honours and finish the tie once and for all. Then this happened…

Ben Amos has just made the save of the season. Nothing is beating this. Incredible.

Amos will now return to the Macron, and now has a year left on his current deal. He had initially joined us on loan in the winter of 2015, before signing permanently for wages we were unequipped to pay. After a disappointing season, he has since been loaned out, first to Cardiff and then Charlton. To be honest, I think he wasn’t helped in 2015-16 season by an awful team in front of him. If you have to face more shots, you’ll inevitably make more mistakes. He had done okay in his initial loan spell with us. On the other hand, Ben Alnwick has had a great season, and he doesn’t deserve to be dropped for next season.

I would assume we would try to move Amos on once again this summer. But what would you do?
