Bolton striker Zoltan Harsanyi scored both goals as Bolton reserves beat their counterparts from Stockport 2-1 in the Manchester Senior Cup last night.

‘That was nice for Zoltan and we are going along all right,` said team manager Alan Cork. Maybe now Cork will now give the Slovakian more of a chance. This season he has been restricted to starting on the subs bench and when brought on has been played out wide, where his movement and positional sense are least effective.

We`ve been fans of Harsanyi for some time on this site, as the article listed at the bottom shows. On Saturday, against Hull, Gary Megson put three players who have come through the academy on the bench. Rob Sissons has done enough to earn that, the other two, Chris Basham and Temitope Obadeyi are more questionable calls. If Megson is giving an opportunity to the young fringe players, then Zoltan Harsanyi should be first in line.

It’s Time for Harsanyi (written in January 2008.) What happened? Grzegorz Rasiak happened.
