When I die!

An article from long-term Bolton fan Anthony Smith, putting forward what legacy could be remembered ‘if the right thing’ is done….

Eddie Davies and Phil Gartside are viewed with, maybe right maybe wrong some suspicion as hard nosed businessmen. The club allegedly owing Eddie £165 million pounds. However we own our ground, the hotel recently purchased for £50 million from De Veres and a lot of land around the ground.

With Eddie Davies taking interest on borrowed money, while Wanderers were a Premiership side for 11 years, I sometimes wonder as I’m checking my online account to make sure my electricity bill has been paid as to what Eddie Davies would like to be remembered for.

Will ED and Gartside fund Lennon next season. After 19 matches wins 9 draws 5 defeats 5. A total of 32 points from the equivalent of a third of the season equates to 96 points.

Obviously statistics are on paper, football is played on grass. But Lennon arrived with Wanderers on 5 points 24th (bottom of the Championship) players with no confidence below Blackpool and Wigan, who are still in the bottom 3.

With the massive Premiership payout due in two seasons, Eddie Davies will have to put his hand in his pocket and fund Lennon. Because if he does not there are plenty of Premiership teams who are hovering over us ready to take this diamond that fell from the Sky.

Write your debts off Eddie, you still have the Hotel and either put up or sell up. Do the right thing and maybe you will have a statue when you die as a great supporter who wrote of his so called debts to save the club and send them back in to the big time.

Or remembered as a person Bolton fans never really did trust.

Anthony Smith Wanderers fan since 1973.
