Defender Tim Ream has said that losing a late goal again to Wigan Athletic at the weekend felt like we had lost the game, rather than taken a point.

With manager Neil Lennon feeling the equaliser for them could’ve come far earlier in the game, so he was happy with a point, Ream didn’t seem to be quite on the same page in his interview with the Official Site following the one all draw.

‘We battled as hard as we could but could only got the draw. To concede another last-minute goal is beyond frustrating to say the least. It wasn`t the outcome we wanted – we wanted three points so it feels like another defeat. We didn`t see the game out and it cost us. It`s just a lack of concentration. You get tired in the last few minutes. When you get tired and your legs start going, then your mind starts going a little bit too. It`s not an excuse; it is just the way it is.’

With points being lost to late goals in recent matches against Watford, Blackburn, Reading and Ipswich, Ream promised the fans that the players were certainly not doing it on purpose and it was disappointing for them as well.

‘We`re not doing it on purpose. As we get more tired, the team feels if we drop a little bit deeper and get a little bit more compact then we`ll hinder them and stifle their chances. But they still get that one chance and they put that once chance away. We have to figure out a way for each and every player to overcome that. We`re not doing that at the moment and aren`t learning from past experiences.’

Adding that over the international break he knows that will be a focus in training for the lads so hopefully we can turn this trend around and pick up more points in the remaining games of the season.

‘We`ll use the international break to work on a few things on the training ground, but at this point in the season it is just as much about giving the guys a bit of a rest, especially with the number of injuries that we have had. The guys who have been playing a lot of games could use with a few extra days too. But we`ll work on a few things then make sure we are ready go against Blackpool.’

The versatile defender won’t actually be involved in that work himself as he has been called up by the United States for international duty in their friendly games against Denmark and Switzerland this international break.

Ream will be hoping to add to the 12 caps he already has for his country.
