You’re Not From New York You’re From Rotherham

|

Bolton travel to the New York Stadium tomorrow to play Rotherham United – so let’s look at how the Millers are doing and who to watch for

Their season so far

They’re probably quite happy with it. I expected them to finish bottom and others may have agreed with me, but on their return to the Championship they sit 19th at the moment with 11 points, four behind us. Their solid start has hit a bit of rocky patch, since beating Derby 1-0 at home, they have gone on a five-game winless run, drawing home games with Bristol City and Stoke, while losing at Villa, Forest and Birmingham.

How they might line up

Rotherham have usually gone 4-3-3 this season but played 4-4-1-1 at Birmingham last time out, with Ryan Williams playing behind Michael Smith. They have struggled for goals, with midfielder Ryan Manning the only player to score more than one league goal. That includes ex-Bolton man Jamie Proctor, who has one.

Recent record against us

We got hammered there on Boxing Day in 2015, that game finishing 4-0. We conceded four there the season before too, at least on that occasion we scored two of our own through Liam Trotter and Matt Mills.
