Bolton Into Top Two

Football. It winds you up, it makes you angry, and then sometimes, you get those moments which remind you why it’s just bloody amazing.

Today was one of those such days. At least it was for me, at 1-0 down I was unleashing an impressive combination of swear words, by 4.55pm I felt very, very happy.

It was a frustrating afternoon for a good while, early on in the second half Matt Taylor took a free kick, and from it Michael Smith but the Cobblers 1-0 up. But the atmosphere remained supportive, even when Le Fondre, clean through, had a save tipped away by the fingers of Adam Smith. Can I make an invisible hand joke here, or will nobody get that?

A questionable penalty got us level, but we had a good few shouts earlier in the game, some would say that would be karma evening itself out. Adam Le Fondre stepped up and converted where I struggled to even watch.

We pressed on, and with eight minutes left, Josh Vela played a nice slide rule ball, we worked it across to Filipe Morais, so many assists, but now a goalscorer as he got the winner. Fleetwood dropped points meaning we go into the top two, with our game still in hand. We’re in a good position now.

Northampton could have had the last laugh, John Joe O’Toole had found the back of the net in the dying seconds of added time, but thankfully the flag was up.
