The mood amongst Bolton fans has been much improved after Sunday`s win over West Ham. They`re getting a bit giddy over at the Manchester Evening News as well.
`No wonder the Trotters were smiling after their first win in the capital for 17 games and a first victory at Upton Park since 1964,` wrote one scribe.
That`s jolly nice, but a tad inaccurate. It`s not even in the right century. Bolton were last victorious at the Boleyn Ground in August 2005, when a breakaway goal by Ivan Campo proved to be decisive. It can be seen here. It`s worth having a look, just for the somewhat displeased reaction of a gentleman off camera.
Not to be outdone, the Bolton News is inviting readers to vote for their favourite Wanderers Premiership goal. `Youri celebrates after scoring against Arsenal in a famous victory`, runs the caption under the picture of a former Wanderers hero. Did Youri ever score in a Bolton victory over Arsenal, famous or otherwise?
No he didn`t. Djorkaeff got on the scoresheet as Bolton came from two goals behind to draw, and finish the Gunners title challenge in 2003. Very pleasing, and a much needed point, but not a win. A bit of a nuisance those facts aren`t they?
