Another Keeper To Pass Bolton By?

|

Amongst Bolton’s transfer targets this summer has been a backup goalkeeper. This search has been harder than anyone could have envisaged.

Sam Walker came close, having been used during pre-season friendlies, but he ultimately took up an offer to join Reading. The latest name that had been linked with us was Lee Camp, but he is being linked with Birmingham now – having frozen out Tomasz Kuszczak and David Stockdale, their goalkeeper problem is more pressing than ours.

With both this and other transfers coming in though, do we really need to hold ourselves to Thursday’s transfer deadline? A loan window is there up until the end of the month, and a few clubs may do an initial loan when taking players with an option or obligation to buy. If needs must, Wanderers could easily do this, although perhaps we should ask first whether we even have the possibility of buying another player.

Surely there are targets out there, and it’s better to have them in sooner rather than later, but Thursday arguably isn’t our deadline day. August 31st will be.
