Bolton Get In Right Back Cover As Deadline Approaches

|

Bolton have signed right-back Peter Kioso on loan from Luton.

The 21 year-old Irish defender has signed for the rest of the season, with Wanderers needing cover after Gethin Jones’ injury at Harrogate a couple of weeks ago.

Kioso only joined Luton in January, from Hartlepool, and made his Championship debut in July after impressing then-manager Graeme Jones in training prior to lockdown. He has only played two match this season in the Carabao Cup, but one was against Manchester United, where he put in a man of the match performance.

Hartlepool’s website described him as an ‘aggressive and all-action style, where performing at right-back, wing-back or centre-back’ – he’s a player with potential but with no real league experience, except for that one Championship game last season, it’s difficult to know what we’ll get. What we did need was a right-back though, with Jones out for the next few weeks and Hickman seemingly not impressing Ian Evatt against Grimsby.

Evatt said: “I am delighted to confirm we have signed Peter Kioso from Luton who is a player I have admired for a long time and have chased since the start of pre-season. Peter can play a variety of positions, has great pace and power and adds quality to our squad.”

The transfer deadline is tomorrow.
