It`s that time again. Fans of all clubs stay close to a news source as the transfer window comes to an end. It`s been extended because of the bank holiday, but that`s just prolonging the agony.
So far the Whites have signed one player who`s already been sent off, two others best described as ordinary, a little known Korean and a munchkin with an attitude. The words ‘whoopy` and ‘do` spring to mind. The search for a striker who can score and a midfielder blessed with the ability to the give ball to someone who isn`t on the other side continue, but no one will be surprised if there are no further arrivals.
One player that`s been mentioned is Newcastle`s young striker Andy Carroll. If true, you have to fear for his sanity. Bolton`s utter failure to provide Johan Elmander with decent service has reduced the Swede to a gibbering wreck. What effect this would have on someone of tender years doesn`t bear thinking about.
According to Nantes head coach, Croatian striker Ivan Klasnic has already been in talks with Bolton, but a move would be surprising. Klasnic turned down Wigan last year as he felt the climate would be too cold for his transplanted kidney. While things are more civilised at the Reebok than the pit village up the road, it`s no warmer. Maybe he`s rubbish at geography. Well, you can only hope.
