Bolton Set To Miss Out On Duo

A few days ago we were linked with 18 year old Liverpool starlet Jordan Ibe and Crewe Alexandra’s Max Clayton.

This news was met with excitement from the Macron faithful, with Jordan Ibe showing glimpses of quality against Bolton while playing for Birmingham and Clayton, while on 20 years old, is highly rated.

Ibe has played a few times for Liverpool’s senior team and impressed during pre-season with Liverpool fans questioning his rumoured departure. He looked to be just what Bolton needed after losing flair through the likes of Chris Eagles and Andre Moritz. Unfortunately the umbrella loving Steve McLaren has decided to sabotage this deal and Ibe now looks set for Derby County. To be fair to Ibe, Derby would probably be a better destination for him as their passing game would suit him and he’d prefer to be at a team flirting with promotion rather than Bolton. Freedman told The Bolton News ‘We made an enquiry for Jordon Ibe a couple of days ago but it looks as if that one is also slipping away from us.’

Max Clayton, touted as the next big thing a few years ago, has been taken on trial at Bolton. However, despite being released by Crewe after rejecting a new contract offer, a sizeable fee would still have to be paid to the Railwaymen due to his age. This fee is believed to be around the 1 million pound mark- a fee we’d never be able to afford especially for such a risky signing. He’s not the sought after attacking talent to come from Crewe in recent years. Nick Powell joined Manchester United from Crewe for 6 million pounds in 2012.

So, things seem to just keep getting worse at Bolton. We seem to have lost out on the players that were supposed to brighten our season. It is thought that Dougie still has a few more options he’d like to pursue but they were not his first choice.
