The BWFC Hokey Cokey…

Evening all. You`re probably wondering why I haven`t mentioned anything about Kevin Davies Testimonial-gate. I`ve said before, and reiterate now, that what I have to say about Kevin Davies leaving the club will be done once Kevin Davies leaves the club. How Talksport tried to sensationalise a story that wasn`t there this week is, however, absolutely disgraceful. Twisting words and attempting to turn friends into foes is very shoddy journalism; but then again, what would you expect from Adrian Durham?

The Championship loan window slammed shut yesterday, with some very interesting (at least) moves in and out of the Reebok Stadium. Stuart Holden and his magnificent hair moved to Sheffield Wednesday until the 24th April; just enough time to get some games under his belt, then return fit and ready for our playoff games. Yes, I`m back on the positivity after a shaky relapse into pessimism last weekend. Silly England. This is a good move for us and Stu; Dougie can access whether Stu can regain his fitness enough to warrant a new contract without risking him in our side, Stu can get back to playing week in, week out.

So, who did we bring in? There was rumours of an old face returning, with whispers of El Hadji Diouf and Ricardo Vaz Te all over the internet, but neither are back at their spiritual home. We ended up signing one player I`ve never heard of, and one I wish I hadn`t heard of.

The former is Robert Hall, a nineteen year old forward/winger from West Ham. He appears highly rated at Upton Park, but his experience in what is a critical part of our season concerns me. He`s only made thirteen appearances at this level, however he has made seven assists in those games. No goals scored above League Two, but we shall see. I trust Dougie, especially with young players, and that ensures that I reserve judgement until I at least see him play. I can`t say the same about Danny Butterfield. Knows Dougie from his Palace days so should fit right in, but he`s the wrong side of thirty and shouldn`t make too much of an impact in a position as well stocked as right back. Another body in, I suppose?

I think we really should`ve tried to find a real impact player, and neither of the above fit into that category. Vaz Te`s goals in the Championship last year mean that he would have been a prime candidate. Why Dougie hasn`t found the player we hoped for might mean he thinks we already have that player in our squad. I just hope we have enough to see us over the line.

Right, you`ll have your Charlton preview in the morning/early afternoon. There might also be another little treat on the way, all the way from Down Under?.
