Bolton’s Christmas Review

Nine points from twelve is an excellent performance by anyone’s standards. We were always going to be hanging on by the Liverpool game because of the small size of the squad and so it proved. We perhaps could have done with the hardest game being at the beginning of the period but that was not going to be.

The City game was a stroll, the Newcastle match a classic game of two halves, the Pompey game a thrill-a-minute and the Liverpool game a struggle and, utlimately, a disappointment.

The last game should not detract from our achievements. We have hung in there. We now have time to prepare for the Doncaster game and for the next batch of Premiership games, each one of which is winnable.

We can only be positive as we look forward to whatever 2007 will bring us? European football? We’ve given ourselves a good chance.
