Bolton’s Darby Signing is All Right

Bolton made another signing in the way of former Bradford man Stephen Darby. ‘Darbs` to give him his footballing nickname, generally plays right back and can also play in centre-back in a back three. He worked with Phil Parkinson when the boss was in charge at Valley Parade. The Bolton fanbase has come out with a mixed reaction.

Some have really slated the deal, which in my eyes is quite frankly weird. He has been consistently good over the last few years for Bradford, one of the best in his position in the division, and done enough to have a crack at the Championship. It means we`re also pretty much sorted on the right flank, with Mark Little for competition, plus Filipe Morais and Will Buckley further forward. This can make Chris Taylor surplus to requirements, not a bad thing, and maybe focus on the more pressing issues on the left side, and to a lesser extent, a creative central midfielder, and another striker.

Let`s just hope they get paid. It seems the out-of-contract players are still not fully paid up, which is not a good situation for anyone.

At least there is some football to look forward to, as pre-season gets underway at Chorley tomorrow. We`d like to get pieces over the course of the next few weeks from Wanderers fans and what they think from game to game.
