BWFC: A New Week

So, a new week dawns. What does it have in store for us?

We have one game this week- a trip to the Madejski Stadium in one promises to be an exciting game between two…. oh whatever I don’t think we really care about that do we? And anyway ‘exciting game’? Involving us? Well I never.

There is news that we’re all waiting on and that is news of the potential takeover involving former Bolton striker, Dean Holdsworth and his consortium and that is bound to be exciting. Hopefully the situation will be made clearer in the coming hours and it won’t depress us like most of these things. Marc Iles said that he was told that things were moving along steadily but I’d always be careful with any news about a takeover- nothing is for certain when you’re a Bolton fan.

We’ve got a new signing who’ll probably be announced this week too- Rajiv Van La Parra, a winger on loan from Wolves. Admittedly, I haven;t seen him play but I’ve heard that he’s a frustrating left winger who does have talent though. That’s better than a frustrating winger who doesn’t have talent (would it be too mean to refer to Liam Feeney here?)

A much needed winger, in my opinion, as Feeney really is our only winger at the moment. Young Tom Walker, who looks a good prospect, has had injury problems this season and I really don’t see Max Clayton as a winger- he should play just behind the striker in my opinion in a freer role to allow him to make those runs in behind that have caused so many problems for opposition defences. Obviously Wellington Silva is still out, too.

Okay, that’s enough. I can’t resist going on more about the potential takeover. I know I’m going to look like an absolute idiot when this doesn’t go through (and I’ll be pretty depressed too!) but I just really really want to know more.

I’ve been in contact with Shield Sports Management, and unsurprisingly I have not received a reply which we can either say is due to legal reasons and their subsequent inability to speak on the matter, or the fact that they’ve ignore the email from that annoying guy from Vital Bolton.

How will they have the funds? I’ve read some of your comments discussing the possibility of it just being a case of them providing (much needed!) finance but not initiating a complete takeover which could be a possibility.

Whatever happens, the fact of the matter is that Eddie Davies cannot put any more money into the club. I’m sure this consortium won’t be in a worse position, and at the very least it’s got some old faces back involved with the club and got some positivity going back around.
